Tracking moods and emotional states — is it always helpful?
Lately I’ve been trying out mood tracking apps to see if it helps me notice patterns, but I’m not sure if it’s doing more harm than good. Some days I feel like logging my feelings keeps me grounded, other days it feels like I’m just obsessing over every little dip in my mood. Has anyone else felt that tension between self-awareness and overthinking? I’m curious how people find the right balance.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I went through a phase of tracking everything — sleep, workouts, moods — and it became overwhelming at some point. What helped was simplifying: instead of rating every emotion, I just wrote one short line about how the day felt. That way I got perspective without spiraling into analysis. I found this Liven app review where someone shared a similar journey, and it reminded me that the tool itself isn’t magic, it’s how you use it.
